Welcome to MAHA District 8

The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) is administered in geographical districts. MAHA District 8 includes most of the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan, excluding only the two easternmost U.P. counties of Mackinac and Chippewa, which are in District 7. Please see the Our Location page for maps and further discussion of our districts, counties, and association locations.

D8 Teams in State Tournaments

Congratulations to the following teams that won our District Tournaments and are moving on to the State Championships!

  • 10U B, Marquette Range Bank
  • 10U AA, Copper Country Semco
  • 12U B, Escanaba Hawks
  • 12U AA, Marquette Superior Hockey
  • 14U B, Iron River Ice Hawks
  • 14U AA, Marquette American Legion

The following teams will also participate in the State Tournaments as the sole representatives from District 8, or by direct invitation.

Website update

The website is finally back up after being down since Thursday.  It is hosted by SportsEngine, and I had a really hard time getting customer service to fix the issue, which was not due to an error on our part.

I was not able to build the CUP League season while the website was down.  I will get it done before the end of this weekend.

Regional Tournaments

After associations declared intent to enter the state tournament, this is the situation for the regional tournaments this year:

  • No regional is needed in the West for 10U or 14U.  Only one team is eliminated by regionals in the East at these levels.
  • All others are necessary.
  • Iron Range is moved to the West 12U regional as the "swing team."
