The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) is administered in geographical districts. MAHA District 8 includes most of the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan, excluding only the two easternmost U.P. counties of Mackinac and Chippewa, which are in District 7. There has been a lot of confusion about the interpretation of the new game count rule. MAHA President George Atkinson has distributed a memo trying to clarify the changes. It is available here.
A new summary document regarding game counts is now posted here.
The biggest change from the document that was posted earlier in the week regards regional tournament games. They DO NOT count in the season maximum or in the 14 game minimum. Local association play-in games still do count.
