Welcome to MAHA District 8

The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) is administered in geographical districts. MAHA District 8 includes most of the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan, excluding only the two easternmost U.P. counties of Mackinac and Chippewa, which are in District 7. Please see the Our Location page for maps and further discussion of our districts, counties, and association locations.

As of November 12, some associations are not sure yet what their 16/18U teams will be, due to high school and JV team cuts not being made yet.

The Districts will need to be either the weekend of Feb 7 or 14, to be determined later.

High Performance Clinics re-scheduled

High Performance Clinics are now scheduled for November 5 and 6 from 6-10 pm at Houghton County Arena.  Coaches must attend both nights to get credit.  There will be lots of on-ice time.  

Bob Mancini from USA Hockey will be the lead instructor.

These clinics will move a Level 1 to a Level 2, or a Level 2 to a Level 3.  They will not count for obtaining Level 1 or Level 4.  

High Performance Coaching Clinics canceled

The "High Performance Coaching Clinics" that were briefly advertised here, associated with Kraft Hockeyville, have unfortunately been canceled.

The District is working on scheduling Level 2 and 3 Clinics in the Copper Country.  Updates will be posted as they are received.

Tentative District Tournaments

Tentative tournament dates and locations are posted on the events calendar to the right.  These will be finalized at the District 8 Council meeting on October 19, 2019.  In rare circumstances, changes might be necesssary.
